What follows is my response to When Reformers are So-Called Refomers III
This is a quaint response to this statement of mine, “They [so-called reformers] blame devotees who are not guilty of wrongdoing.” This whole kerfuffle could have been avoided had Pandu Prabhu not painted as guilty everyone in ISKCON who thinks the gurukulis who [...]
Hare Krsna. What follows is my response to When Reformers are So-Called Reformers II
We can help you out on this one, Panduji. Maybe the idea that you fancy yourself as a reformer comes in part from the fact that you don’t limit yourself to “journaling your thoughts and feelings” on your blog. You have [...]
I’ve just finished writing this, and it needs a little introduction, just to say that it begain with a response to the essay noted below, but it largely turned into something else. I feel some obligation to make a more point-by-point response, and so I suppose I’ll do that soon. However, I didn’t [...]
There aren’t any. None. ISKCON is absolutely perfect.
If you find any problem in ISKCON, it’s really your problem. It’s not ISKCON’s problem. If your problem persists, then hit the road.
That sounds about right.
It’s a little hard to relate to such an off-the-mark analysis of me as Krishna Kirti published last night, but I do have a few things to say about it.
First of all, I don’t know where this idea came from that I think I’m a reformer. Such a thing is far above my ablilities, [...]
I see that Krishna Kirti has dedicated a post on his blog to commenting on the faults he sees in me. I look forward to responding, but I’ve got some other work to do first.
Dear Vaishnava prabhu,
Thank you for your pacifying remarks. I seem to have come to ISKCON in an unusual way, which I think has something to do with my feelings about it. A little over ten years ago I had been studying advaita philosophy for a few years, focusing mostly on Vasistha’s Yoga [...]
Wow, Krishna Kirti allowed my trackback to register on his site. I also submitted it as a comment, but he rejected that as usual. Oh well. As he stated, he only accepted the trackback so he could criticize it; not surprising. I expected the first part of his criticism, but the second was weird. If [...]
I just read an interesting paper by Krishna Kirti called “Essentials of Reform: What Happens When You Change the Essentials of Krishna Consciousness?”
I was doing alright with it, myself being somewhat inclined to fundamentalism too, until I got to this analogy:
In the end, there is no difference between being unable to understand something [...]
Candidas das over at Deltaflow has an interesting post about confidence, concluding with
The disciple said: “Prabhupada, the scientists say there are 2 million different species of life” Prabhupada’s reply: “2 million? No, 8,400,000!”
That settled the matter. He sounded so certain of this fact that no one could argue.
On a similar line with [...]
